The Bank of Canada has announced it’s interested in developing a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) and is asking for Canadian’s input through a survey on their website. I suggest we all take this survey and tell them what we really think about their CBDC. Hint…it’s not good, but read the below, decide for yourself, and take the survey.
Personally, I took the survey and told them I cannot trust any government or central bank to wield a tool with such power to infringe on our rights and freedoms.
What is a CBDC?
A CBDC is not a crypto currency in the sense that most people think, it’s a digital version of a government backed/controlled FIAT currency. Simply put, it’s nothing more than the current Canadian dollar in a digital form. This means that the government will still have complete control over the currency, but that control will be even greater since the use of cash will likely be phased out over time. Cash isn’t as easy to keep track of as digital transactions. Additionally, the government will still be able to print, in this case create, new digital dollars at the touch of a button. Great, let’s make it easier to cause inflation.
And remember our current dollars aren’t backed by anything like gold, they’re only backed by our government saying; “Trust us, this money is worth something”. Now this money, based solely on a promise, is going to be in digital form. And these same people say Bitcoin has no value and call it magic internet money.
The Slippery Slope of Totalitarianism
A CBDC is a large step to having all the necessary mechanisms in place for complete control of the population by a centralized party, such as a government. I’ve been convinced that the vaccine passports were put in place simply to get people comfortable with a digital tracking platform that could be used to house a digital currency and a social credit system that would be tied to your ability to spend your CBDC.
It’s the wet dream of tyrannical governments. In its worst form it would be complete an utter control of your ability to spend your money based on your compliance with whatever rules and laws the government wishes to use as a measure of your social credit.
This is a complete surveillance state on steroids, the dystopia of all dystopias.
It may seem far-fetched, and you may think that the government would never do that to us. But the important thing to remember is that with a CBDC, it is possible. By agreeing to a CBDC, we would be allowing the tools and laws to be put in place to create such a dystopia at the touch of a button. The term for this a turn-key totalitarian government.
Even if you love your current government and don’t think they would do such a thing, do you trust the next administration that you didn’t vote for? Or what happens when a leader truly bent on totalitarian control gets elected?
Unfortunately, the scale is already tipping in the totalitarian direction. We experienced it with COVID-19 and the globalist elites as well as the climate justice warriors pushing for extreme measures to stop climate change. Climate lockdowns, smart cities, 15-minute cities, banning meat, banning gas cars, removing roadways to limit car use, etc. Don’t believe me, go do some research on C-40 cities, 15-minute cities, smart cities, and the planetary health diet. The concept behind these things is what will be rolled up into the digital social credit/ID that dictates what and where you are allowed to spend your CBDC.
This is what the extreme climate activists want, and governments drool over the amount of control it would give them.
Have you never heard of the freedom/right to transact? It’s a big concept in the decentralized finance/crypto currency (DeFi) crowd but it’s not an internationally recognized basic human right and freedom. However, I’ve been convinced it should be, and not only that, it should be the most important right/freedom of them all, even ahead of freedom of speech/expression.
Ultimately, if you don’t have the right to transact, you cannot exercise any of your other rights and freedoms, and a CBDC turns the right to transact into a privilege of compliance.
Trudeau’s Canadian federal government made this point crystal clear in how they dealt with the Freedom Convoy Truckers protest in Ottawa. Instead of meeting with the truckers and discussing their concerns with them, Trudeau enacted the Emergencies Act (previously called the War Measures Act!). Aside from the disgusting violence this brought on the proven to be nothing but peaceful protestors, it allowed the government to have banks freeze citizen and company accounts and even have insurance companies freeze trucking company insurance!
How could they continue to exercise their freedom of expression and right to peaceful assembly when they no longer had the right to transact?!!
Imagine how much faster and extensive this would have been with a CBDC, digital ID and social credit score!
What…you tweeted you don’t’ agree with the government’s environmental policy, or hate speech policy, or medical mandates, no spending for you, no travel for you, you are locked down until you comply.
Oops, it looks like you used too much gas last month, now you can’t buy gas or meat (because they think this causes climate change) this month. Stay in your house and eat bugs!
Oops, you drove your gas car outside your 15-minute city without permission, we just fined you and already took the money out of your CBDC account.
Obviously, I have painted a picture of a worst-case scenario, and maybe it would never amount to such extremes, but why would we want to even take one step down that slippery slope when we know where we could end up.
The systems we allow to be put in place should make it impossible for anyone to achieve this worst-case dystopia I have outlined, and a CBDC is a tool that could be used to this end!
Tell the Bank of Canada NO!
Personally, I will stick to decentralized crypto currencies such as Bitcoin as well as cash, gold, and silver.
