Not to downplay racism, bigotry, and discrimination in the modern Western world, but boy oh boy, the unvaccinated took a beating during the COVID-19 pandemic! All during the height of the diversity, equity, and inclusion trend.
But remember, diversity and inclusion only apply to those groups of people the DEI enforcers tell us to include, which did not include the unvaccinated! Or white men, but that’s a topic for another day…yikes! And don’t forget the dangerous climate deniers.
And to be very clear, there was absolutely no justification whatsoever for the discrimination and segregation of the unvaccinated! Period! It was known within months of starting the vaccination campaign that the vaccine did not prevent infection or transmission. Effectiveness against transmission was not even measured in the pharma companies’ clinical trials.
These facts were well known by our governments, doctors, and public health agencies long before there were any discriminatory policies put in place against the unvaccinated.
There are many words to describe this atrocity: medical apartheid, ideological bigotry, divide and conquer politics, blind prejudice, discriminatory theatrical pandering, but a British Medical Journal, peer-reviewed paper from May 2023 makes an argument for another word, scapegoating.
It’s the epitome of disgusting. Not only is scapegoating not accepting responsibility for one’s mistakes, but it’s also blaming zero-fault people those mistakes. It’s like saying I’m right, even though I have no supportive evidence, and since you don’t agree with my unfounded opinion (i.e. dogma) I blame you for everything.
The hubris, arrogance, and narcissism of this is tremendous.
OK, let’s see what my new best friends (LOL) had to say in their paper.
First off, they found that Democrats, otherwise known as liberals, basically anyone with political ideology left of center, were much more likely to overestimate the risk of COVID-19 and the effectiveness of the vaccines. Thus, also more likely to scapegoat the unvaccinated. Not surprisingly, Democrats were also much more likely to agree with government fines or imprisonment for anyone publicly questioning the efficacy of the vaccines!
No joke, 48% of Democrat responders said this would be acceptable. This is a population severely ignorant of what freedom means in a constitutional republic or in Canada, technically a constitutional monarchy (we just commonly refer to these as democracy). These people would literally say that allowing public dissent of the vaccine efficacy narrative is a danger to our democracy/freedom when it literally means the exact opposite. Absolute lunacy.
Ultimately what the researchers found was that the unvaccinated were much more likely to be blamed for overwhelming the healthcare system, undermining public health, and prolonging the pandemic. As mentioned, there is no empirical evidence to support any of this and the authors provide many references in their paper to this end.
The researchers blamed media and public health communications for the publics’ unfounded beliefs about the unvaccinated which led to their scapegoating.
